The Bahamas - Public Food Issues

Most pubic beaches in the Bahamas only sell snacks, so it is best to bring your own food. There is an issue with drinks as well; most of the time vendors run out of ice on a busy day

The beaches in The Bahamas are awesome; they are beautiful, clean, and they have many options for having fun. The best beaches are the ones that are not free because they always have people who serve great food and drinks. Pubic beaches, however, vary; most of them only serve snacks, and sometimes nothing at all depending on the day, so you have to arrive prepared.

All public beaches in The Bahamas are different, some sell great snacks and drinks and some do not. On a basic pubic beach, you will mostly find vendors that only sell snack foods, which you can easily finish eating in about 5-10 minutes. If you have kids, they will love snacks such as potato chips, but most grownups may want something more filling.

Many vendors vary what they sell during the week, but it is always a snack food; some days; however, they may not sell everything at all. Snacks are great for an hour on the beach, but if you plan to stay there for an entire day, you need to bring your own food. Your family will appreciate a hardy meal on the beach because it is much better than potato chips and a cold drink.

If your family loves grilled chicken and vegetables, you cannot cook these items on a Bahamas’ public beach because there are no grills available. If everyone wants a beach dinner, you need to bring a grill with you. If you have a large family, you will need a large grill, which means you need a van to load it to bring it to the beach. Smaller families can use a more compact grill, which is not that expensive; it costs around $12.00, and larger families can buy a few of them instead of buying a big grill and renting a van. This type of grill is a great grill to bring to the beach, because you can set it up on a small table next to you, and it is easy to clean as well.

You will also need drinks; most of the time, there is a vendor that sells drinks on the beach, usually water and soda, and sometimes beer and rum. Most vendors have a large supply of drinks, however, on a busy day; they generally always run out of ice. No one wants to drink a hot drink, so do not rely on the vendors, it is best to bring your own drinks to the beach in a cooler. You should get a cooler that keeps your drinks colds and heats your food by using the cigarette lighter in your car.

If your family decides to stay on the beach the entire day, you may have some food left from your beach dinner. Once the ice melts, you can load your food into the cooler inside your car, and it will warm your food and keep it warm so your family can eat on the trip home.

Visiting a pubic beach in The Bahamas can be a lot of fun; however, you should not rely on the vendors because they only sell snack foods, and they always run out of ice

Easy access to The Bahamas is one reason for its long-standing popularity as a winter holiday destination. Only a few miles from the south Florida coast, in fact closer than Caribbean destinations, the islands can be reached quickly either by air or by sea.

The Bahama Islands temperatures rarely drop below 60 degrees F, or rise above 90 degrees F. Most of the rain fall occurs in the summer months. The sea temperature ranges from the low 80's in the summer to about 74 degrees F in the winter
